At GMH, we recognize how difficult it can be to make the decision to receive treatment for psychiatric concerns or substance abuse problems, which is why we strive to make the process one that flows as smoothly as possible.
Additionally, we know that problems and crises can arise at any time of the day or night, which is why we are pleased to offer assessment and referral services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our Access Center is
available to quickly schedule an evaluation and triage, typically within hours of receiving the initial phone call from a prospective patient, family member, or referral source.
Upon arrival at GMH, prospective patients will receive a thorough assessment in order to determine their specific needs and assess their presenting concerns.
The assessments at GMH will typically include the following:
An examination of the prospective patient’s medical history, include any previous treatment that he or she may have received.
A review for consideration of any possible medical complications and a review of if, or when, the prospective patient may have last used drugs or alcohol.
A complete psychiatric and medical assessment to determine an appropriate clinical diagnosis.
Comprehensive evaluations are conducted by one of our licensed social workers or psychologists, with psychiatrists available for consultation and further assessment, if necessary.
Treatment recommendations for
each prospective patient are made based on the evaluation that occurs.
Once an evaluation has been completed and treatment recommendations have been developed, the patient’s insurance company will be contacted in
order to obtain authorization for appropriate services.
